Coastal Conditions That Make HVAC Service Different Here
At Plisko Service Solutions, we see how relentless salt air along the Bogue Sound corridor is on outdoor equipment. Condenser coils, cabinet finishes, and electrical connections degrade faster in the marine environment around Morehead City than they would just a few miles inland. We find that homes in the Downtown Harborside area, near the State Port, and in neighborhoods like Brandywine Bay that face Bogue Sound can see accelerated corrosion on outdoor HVAC units. That wear compounds quickly without a regular maintenance schedule.
Humidity and the Heat Load on Your System
Morehead City sits in North Carolina's hot, humid coastal climate zone, where summer humidity pushes air conditioners to run longer cycles than systems farther inland. Right-sizing equipment matters as much as the brand. A system that is too small cannot control humidity; one that is too large short-cycles and leaves moisture in the air. Our certified technicians assess your specific load before recommending a system.
Vacation Rentals and Second Homes
A significant share of properties on and near Bogue Banks, including Atlantic Beach just across the causeway, are vacation rentals or second homes that may sit unoccupied for weeks. Systems left unmonitored in a shut-up coastal home can develop musty air, refrigerant issues, or surprise failures right before a booking. Our scheduled maintenance visits catch those problems early and help keep your rental income on track.
HVAC Services Serving Morehead City and the Crystal Coast
Plisko Service Solutions offers a full range of HVAC services from installation through emergency repair, covering residential and commercial properties across Carteret and Craven counties.
Air Conditioning
Our technicians handle AC repair, installation, maintenance, replacement, ductless mini-splits, and zoned HVAC systems. Whether a unit is throwing warm air, freezing up, or not keeping pace with the heat and humidity, we can diagnose and address the problem on the same visit whenever possible. Learn more on our air conditioning page.
Heating and Heat Pumps
Winters along the Crystal Coast are milder than inland North Carolina, but overnight lows can still stress an under-maintained heating system. We offer heating installation, repair, and maintenance, including heat pump service. Heat pumps are a popular choice in this climate because they handle both cooling and heating without a separate furnace and perform well in Carteret County's moderate temperature swings.
HVAC System Installation and Ductwork
For new construction or full-system replacements, we design and install complete HVAC systems with custom ductwork sized to the property. Getting the duct layout right is especially important in older downtown Morehead City homes and elevated coastal builds where running supply and return lines requires planning.
Electrical Services
Plisko Service Solutions also handles the electrical work that goes along with HVAC installation and repair, including lighting installation, electrical maintenance, and equipment wiring, all under one contractor and one service call.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I Repair or Replace My HVAC System?
If repairs cost more than half of a new system, or your unit is over 10-15 years old, replacement usually saves money long term.
Why Is My Air Conditioner Blowing Warm Air?
Common causes include a low refrigerant charge, a dirty filter, or a failing compressor. Check your thermostat, then call us for a diagnosis.
How Often Should I Change My Air Filter?
Most homes need a filter change every 1-3 months. In our humid, salt-air climate, check monthly and replace sooner if airflow feels weak.
Why Is My HVAC System Making Strange Noises?
Banging, squealing, or hissing can signal a loose part, a worn motor, or a refrigerant leak. Call us before a small issue becomes a breakdown.
